Community Guidelines

Lake Norman Record is a free media outlet that’s purpose is to create civil conversations, share arts and culture, and bring general awareness to Lake Norman and surrounding communities. We believe and uphold the First Amendment right to our publication and community members who interact with LKNR. We encourage opinions and conversations under civil pretense. However, LKNR does not tolerate hate speech or threatening comments towards staff, members of the community, and general public.

First Amendment
“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”

Social Media & Networking

LNKR uses social media platforms to engage and share with the community of local events, arts, culture and news. LNKR upholds the following guidelines for staff and users on all platforms:

Be polite. If you have nothing nice to say, do not say it. LNKR does not want to stifle or silence discussion of controversial issues. Please try to disagree without being disagreeable.
Keep it clean. Do not use obscenities, even if the work in question is often used in conversation. No name calling, slander, slurs or threatening comments. Under no circumstances should you post or comment anything that could be taken as threatening, harassing, sexist, or racist.
Respect others' privacy. We encourage engagement and conversation with one another, however, please do leak or reveal personal information that can inflict or cause harm against others.
No promotion. LKNR comments and forums are not a platform for advertising, promotion, recruiting, campaigning or soliciting. If you would like to promote an event or run an advertisement, please contact us! We are happy to help.
We encourage tips and ideas, not conspiracy theories or gossip. LKNR is open to tips and ideas for stories and content. We do not accept conspiracy or un-factual information. If you have any tips or ideas, please email lakenormanrecord@gmail.com.
